Rare original painted two sided wood Pulki (marriage Litter) set from the Santal people living in the Santal Parganas, India.
Rural scenes of festivals as well every day life are depicted on both sides. I collected carvings from the rural groups living in "Middle India" in the early 80's and this was the only set I have had with the original painted surface. A rare and incredible piece of folk art. Can also be created into a bed or seating area with further additions. 19th c, India
