Two wood and polychromed West Javanese shadow puppets in original clothing having one with its original stick body and the other replaced stick pole body. Both are very old, late 19th early 20th century, and have intricate headdresses. One has a metal waist band with a name in punched letters.
The term wayang golek is the Javanese word, it consists of two words wayang and golek. Wayang for "shadow" or "imagination" and Golek for "seek". The Wayang golek is a Sundanese tradition .
In 2003 UNESCO the art form of the three forms of Indonesian puppetry was awarded Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity and therefore required Indonesians to preserve the tradition.
