A variety of antique silver fibulae in different design styles from Morocco.
Fibulae are a wonderful and ancient ornament for fastening to sides together without buttons. The fibula is one of the earliest forms of ornamentation that fulfills an important purpose. The unconstructed clothing of many desert cultures is wrapped or pinned in place with fibulae. In the case of Moroccan fibulas, many were in pairs and some of the larger ones became major statements of silver work and chain work.
The variety in our fibula collection is largely from some early important collections we have recently acquired. We will be adding more pieces as we continue to document them. Please stay tuned.
