Rare original Eastern Himalayan headdress of a type that is worn in Bhutan. Tongs of metal covered with fabric have attached coral and turquoise beads. A top knot style finial of faux amber (Bakelite), a silver decorative cap and a large coral top bead stopped with turquoise is a take on various Tibetan and Chinese official finials found on headdresses. The draped coral strands are attached in levels to create a very beautiful effect. Early 20th century.
