Created cabinet objects influenced by 17th century versions which were created as curiosities for nobility. Imported natural elements were mounted with sometimes elaborate ornamentation by jewelers who were commissioned to create these one-of-a kind works.
Style 1: I mounted this ostrich egg on an up cycled vintage silver plated stand. The egg is embellished with hand painted gilded ribbons with hand sewn antique silver decorations and Yemeni carnelian stones mounted in silver, capped with a Victorian lighting boss.
Style 2: This egg is mounted on an Art Nouveau period alabaster, brass & bronze tazza.
