Created specimen collection made from oyster shells, rare California natural sponge specimens and a Venus Flower Basket. These rare Venus (or "glass") sponges feature a delicate exoskeleton of silica that has the consistency of blown glass. For years these were given as wedding gifts in Japan. They live 15,000 feet below the water near Japan and the Philippines.
